10 best beaches in Mallorca

Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic Islands. Its coastline is more than 300 miles long and its absolute highlights are its beautiful sandy beaches with the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Are you planning a visit to Mallorca? We’ll try to help you pick your beaches of choice for your trip in today’s post. Which beaches in Mallorca should you see?

Caló del Moro

Calo des Moro

This is, according to Holidu.co.uk’s list of the best beaches on Mallorca, the third best beach on the island, with a rating of 4.6/5. It is located a short distance away from Santanya. Tucked away in a cove, this beautiful beach is ideal for relaxation for both those who simply want to take the whole place in and for whole families, thanks to its shallow waters. Beware, however, as there’s often a problem of space here – the beach is quite small, demand relatively high, and the free parking nearby means that tourists REALLY love the place.

Es Trenc

Es Trenc

Es Trenc is a very strong contender for the single most beautiful beach in Mallorca for us. It’s located south, about 15 minutes away from Campos by car. It is the longest natural beach on the island – stretching for about 1.5 miles. The sand here is white and fine and the water is warm and relatively shallow, shallow enough for children to safely enjoy. There is no shortage of infrastructure in the area. It is easy to hire sun loungers and any and all water sports equipment. There are also bars and restaurants in the area.

Given its sheer size, you’re sure to find very crowded areas, more private ones and also a section for where you can sunbathe nude.

Port de Pollença

Port de Pollenca

The Port de Pollença beach is located on the north-eastern coast of Majorca, 3.7 miles from the Port de Pollença town. You can get here by car (you don’t have to worry about parking space) or by bus. What makes this place stand out is the view of the amazing Tramuntana mountains facing you as you beach. They protect the bay from the wind, so the water is calm and the sand fine. Behind the beach is a promenade with bars, restaurants and shops.

Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera

Don’t confuse it with Cala Figuera from the south of the island, this one is located in the north-east of the island. This pebbly beach is one beautiful spot in Mallorca, and you can get here in 15 minutes on foot from the 334 bus stop. Take appropriate footwear though, as the beach is rocky and so is the path leading up to it. It’s an ideal beach for snorkeling, and you’ll also find goats here, so kids will certainly love it here (and so do we). This is also Holidu’s number one beach in Mallorca, with a rating of 4.7/5!

Cala Llombards

Cala Lombards

This bay is located in the southern part of the island, in the municipality of Santanyi. To reach the beach, once you reach the town of Llombards, follow the signs painted on the houses and continue down the winding road.

The beach is narrow and sandy, surrounded by cliffs with pine trees. From these there are beautiful views of the bay. There are small, old fishermen houses sticking out of the water. You’ll also see more modern villas higher up for contrast. Some you can even rent.

To the right, you have rocks from which you can jump into the water, with little metal ladders installed on the side to make it easier for you to get out. The whole place is full of charm and we highly recommend it if you’re looking for something away from it all.

Cala Vinyes

Cala Vinyes is located in the southwest of Mallorca. Though it’s not the only beach with palm trees here, it’s the most famous and we think the prettiest one as well. Fine sand, beautiful calm waters, perfect for photo shoots! There is a parking area, toilets, bars and restaurants nearby. Sadly, there are also massive hotels all around spoiling what could’ve been great views.

Cala Mesquida

Cala Mesquida

This beach is located in the north-western part of Mallorca, near the town of Capdevera. The place is very popular with both families with children and with surfers. Why?

Because there are times when it’s dead calm here and so a perfect spot for parents, and at other times strong winds decide that enough is enough and sweep the place. It’s a dice roll with this one. The beach is wide, so children can take up lots of space and play, while adults can surf on the high waves, as if they never left Costa Blanca.

Playa de Alcudia

Playa de Alcudia

The beach is located about 1.2 miles away from Alcudia, in the north-eastern part of the island. You can park on the street near the entrance. The beach here is very wide and the descent to the water is equally gentle.

There is a long promenade nearby, with numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Additionally, you’ll find plenty of water equipment to rent in the area.

Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla is located in the north-eastern part of Mallorca. There is a parking lot in front of the beach, though you’ll have to pay a fee. What makes this beach stand out is its crystal clear water with its beautiful colour. The golden-brown sand is light and perfect for playing beach volleyball while the waters by the shore are shallow enough for children to safely play there. The beach is surrounded by high cliffs overgrown with pine trees. Of course, there are also restaurants, bars, showers and toilets nearby. Remember that the Mediterranean is a pleasantly warm sea in summer, so feel free to go for a long swim.

Playa de Muro

The beach is located between the Alcudia resort and the Can Picafort resort, close to the S’Albufera park. It’s a very popular spot, so go as early in the morning as you can to avoid overbearing crowds. You shouldn’t have much issue with parking near the beach.

The beach is distinguished by its crystalline turquoise water and fine sand. As per usual in Mallorca the shore is nicely warm and shallow, so it’s ideal for children. There’s also a water sports centre by the beach, offering equipment and lessons for beginners. Windsurfing, kitesurfing and StandUp Paddle (SUP) are the most popular.

Cala sa Nau

Cala as Nau

The beach is located in the south-eastern part of the island, between the popular resorts of Cala d’Or and Portocolom. You can get here by car (there is a free parking lot nearby), bus or boat. The beach is small – only 50 metres long and 70 metres wide. It’s surrounded by limestone rocks and a pine forest. You can also rent an umbrella and a sun lounger here, as is customary. There is a bar nearby that serves delicious food. In the evening, parties are held here.

Cala Mondrago

Cala Monderago

The beach is located in the Mondrago Natural Park, on Mallorca’s south-east coast, about 5 miles from the Cala D’Or bay. The azure waters and golden sand contrasts beautifully with the greens of the forests and the cliffs dominating the surrounding area.

For the convenience (and safety) of tourists, wooden observation decks have been built from which you can view the bay in its entirety. You can also see Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the distance. Occasionally the bay is visited by smaller and larger yachts. If you don’t currently have one on hand, you can hire a pedalo or a kayak.

What to take with you to beaches in Mallorca?

Apart from the essentials, like a towel and a blanket, be sure to take very strong sunscreen. The heat gets violent on the island, and you don’t want to discover how many days of pain no sunscreen in Mallorca will leave you with afterwards. Remember to apply the cream every few hours and every time you pop out of the water.

Another essential element is a (LARGE) bottle of water. You need lots of hydration in such conditions and it’s also a nice refreshment to have some lemon or mind flavoured water on the beach.
