Where is the island and city of Corfu?

You likely know that Corfu is a beautiful Greek island. And, obviously, it kind of has to lie by the sea. But then there’s also the city of Corfu – if you’d like to fly there, will you find beaches? Does it lie by the sea? Let’s take a look.

The city of Corfu has an area of almost 41,905 km2 and over 40,000 permanent residents. It’s also likely where you’ll fly to if you’re choosing to spend your holiday on Corfu. But does it also have sea access?

Yes, it does. The city lies on the east coast of the island, on the side of Albania. You can even find a port which connects Corfu with Greece, Albania and Italy. The coastline is quite varied, with promenades, parks and an old Venetian fortress. In the centre, you won’t find many beaches, though there are a couple rocky ones.

Where is Corfu located?

The exact coordinates for the city are: 39°37′N 19°55′E, between Italy, Albania and Greece. Due to the climate, it is one of the greener (albeit wetter) Greek islands.
