Sea temperature in Crete in June and July

Crete is one of Greece’s most popular holiday destinations. It’s sunny, surrounded by beautiful azure waters and dotted with architectural gems – a perfect place for a summer holiday. Wondering whether you can find warm waters in Crete in June and July? Wonder no longer, as we’ll go over that today.

Water temperatures in Crete in June

Mediterranean countries are a greatly popular choice for the beginning of the holiday season, as their temperatures tend to be most favourable. It’s no different for Crete, as you can already find waters as warm as 22°C in June. For contrast, it’d be about 12°C off the coast of Scotland. It’s perfect for the first swim of the summer.

Water temperatures in Crete in July

July is, as you may imagine, even warmer. While air temperatures basically don’t go below 30°C, the sea sits at a pleasant 24°C, making long bathing a lot more sensible than in May or June. It doesn’t really get warmer in August, so this is as warm as you’ll get here.

Be sure to stay safe amidst the heat, as it can get very extreme in Greece – drink plenty of water, use a strong sunscreen and bring a hat with you!
