While Florence is a wonderful city in and of itself, it’s also an especially lovely place during Christmas. One of the reasons is the Christmas Market taking place there. When is the Christmas Market in Florence held? Where is it? We’ll go over that today.
What’s the Christmas Market in Florence like?
The Christmas Market is usually located in front of the Santa Croce, near the Uffizi Gallery. You’ll find a few dozen stalls with food, souvenirs and various crafts. You can stock up on various traditional food items or just a bazillion truffles. You’ll also often find exhibitors from other countries with their own handicrafts. There are also fun activities for children.
Do watch out for pickpockets in very large crowds, as it does get a bit tight sometimes.
When will the Christmas market in Florence take place?
In 2023, the Christmas Market in Florence will take place from November 18 to December 17.
Where is the Christmas market in Florence?
The market is right in the centre of the city, right next to the Basilica di Santa Croce. It’s a great excuse to visit the temple as well. It’s about an 18-minute walk from the main station in Florence and about a 5 minute walk from the Uffizi Gallery.
Even if you have no intention of buying anything, it’s still well worth taking a stroll through the stalls and soaking up the atmosphere. Grab a doughnut, a bag to pack all your new treasures, and off you go!
