Barcelona Girona Airport is located 55 miles north-east of the centre of Barcelona, closer to the French border. In fact, it’s closer to France than it is to Barcelona. Is it possible to get from Girona to the centre by train? Sadly, there’s no train available directly from the airport. You have to actually drive to the centre of Girona and there you have a train station. The Avant train reaches the centre of Barcelona in 38 minutes – you will arrive at the Barcelona-Sants station.

 

How much does the train from Girona to Barcelona cost?

 

The price for an Avant train ticket is around €17.40 for a basic ticket – prices may vary slightly depending on the operator.

This is realistically the main way to get around between Barcelona and the Girona Costa Brava Airport. There are buses from various companies leaving from the terminal, but the one endorsed by the airport directly is Sagales. Buses leave every 30 minutes or so and a ticket costs €19.50 to get to Estació Barcelona Nord. A two-way ticket costs €30. You’re interested in the 604 line – it’s the one that gets you to Estació Barcelona Nord. The drive from the airport to the centre of Barcelona is a whooping 55 miles, so don’t expect it to go cheap. Prices usually start at €140 and more realistically sit around €180. Uber does not officially function here.

 

Getting from Girona Airport to Barcelona by car

 

If you want to get from Girona Airport to Barcelona by car, the drive will take about 60 minutes. Right next to the airport there are the AP-7/E-15 and the A2/C-32 motorways, which will take you straight to the centre of Barcelona. The former is about 15 minutes faster.
