If you’re thinking of either moving to Greece or looking for some holiday work, you may want to know how much you can earn there. It’s a beautiful area, after all. Today, we’ll give you the current minimum and average wages in Greece so you can compare it with your own. Let’s take a look!
What is the minimum wage in Greece?
First, let’s look at minimum wages. The minimum salary in Greece in 2023 is €780 gross. If you’ve looked up the minimum wage for Greece before, you may be confused whether it’s actually €780 or €910, as these are the two numbers thrown around. This is because Greece operates on 14 payments per year, meaning one pay is actually €780. If you multiply this by 14 and divide by 12, as we usually count wages, you get €910. As such, the monthly minimum is €910. If you prefer, that’d be 788 GBP or 1000$ (per exchange rates of December 2023).
The Greek PM said that the minimum wage will, once again, go up in 2024 too.
What are the average salaries in Greece?
Of course, the majority of Greeks earn more than the minimum. The recorded average salaries differ a bit, but they usually range from the low average of about a thousand euros to about €2,200. The median salary in Greece is about €2,120, meaning 50% of the population earns more than that and the other 50% earn less. According to SalaryExplorer, 75% of the Greek population earns more than €1,530 and the same 75% earns less than €3,200.
