Guide to the Ostrava Zoo in the Czech Republic

If you’re headed towards the northern part of the Czech Republic then you may want to visit the famous Ostrava Zoo! Where is it? How much does it cost to enter? We’ll take a look at all of that today.

Ostrava Zoo

The Ostrava Zoo is the second largest zoo in the Czech Republic, housing nearly 4,000 animals. It includes lots of sections for children, including a playground, a dedicated yard for playing with domestic animals and a mini water park. The zoo also has its own restaurant and fast-food stands scattered around its area. For any additional information, you can check out the official website of the Ostrava Zoo

Tickets

Both tickets and opening hours operate on a seasonal rotation in the Ostrava Zoo. For tickets, the summer season starts at the beginning of April and ends at the end of October. The rest of the year, meaning the beginning of November to the end of March, is the winter season. With this in mind, here are the ticket options:

  • Regular adult ticket
    • Summer: 160 CZK
    • Winter: 110 CZK
  • Reduced ticket (children 3-15, students up to 26 yo, retirees, people with disabilities)
    • Summer: 100 CZK
    • Winter: 60 CZK
  • Children under 3 years old and people with disabilities under 15 years old
    • Free

For both the adult and the reduced ticket, you can also buy an annual version. There’s also a family ticket, though it’s only available in the annual version.

Additionally, there are two more optional payments: the car park and the fun train (a cutesy little train roaming from the end of the zoo to the entrance all year round apart from summer):

  • Car park (all day)
    • Summer: 100 CZK
    • Winter: 60 CZK
  • Fun train
    • Regular ticket: 50 CZK
    • People with disabilities: 10 CZK
