Is Ibiza a city? An island? What is Ibiza?

Ibiza is a Spanish resort known mostly for its rich nightlife and ceaseless parties, though you can also find a calmer side here, especially in its stunning countryside. Given that for many Ibiza is just an excuse to pour an endless stream of booze into their body, some may forget what Ibiza even is at its core. Is it a city? An island?

Let’s start with the basics. If you’re planning a holiday to Ibiza, you must’ve already figured out that it’s an island in the Mediterranean Sea, a part of the Balearic archipelago. Some, however, claim that they’re not going to an island, but to a city.

Well, yes, both parties are right here. Because Ibiza is a city on Ibiza, the island. It’s the third largest Spanish island in the Balearic Islands archipelago with a surface area of 571 square kilometres. The island is then home to Ibiza, the city, Eivissa in Catalan, with a population of around 50,000. Even though it may not seem massive, it’s the third largest city in the Balearic Islands in terms of population. In regards to surface area, it’s only 11,14 square km.

In conclusion: is Ibiza an island? Yes. is Ibiza a city? Yes. Is Ibiza a car? Also, yes.
What a busy life Ibiza has.
