July is a very popular month for Gran Canaria – the beaches get quite crowdy, coasts covered with sun loungers all around. And understandably so, for who wouldn’t want to have quick access to waters of a 23 degrees Celsius average? Naturally, this won’t be exactly 23 degrees all around the island. Depending on where more rain falls and where stronger winds blow on the island, the temperatures may shift slightly, but you shouldn’t expect more than a degree or two for plus or minus. Still, perfectly splendid for a swim.

Will you find the warmest waters in Gran Canaria in August?
August is, most surprisingly, not the warmest month when it comes to water temperatures in Gran Canaria. Given the nature of oceanic waters, it does not heat up as quickly as, say, a sea, so the highest water temperatures will stabilise more or less when August will have passed. If you’re looking for the absolute warmest waters you can find in Gran Canaria, we recommend travelling at the beginning of September, when the waters will have had plenty of time to heat up.
Still, it does not mean August will not have very pleasant waters for you. It’ll be just as nice as July, just don’t expect drastic differences and peak water temperatures and you’re good. Overall, your holidays are safe and sound in regards to water temperatures both in July and in August.
