9 best things to do in and near Konakli

Konakli is a resort in Turkey full of hotels and beautiful wide beaches. In today’s guide, we’ll go over some fun you can do and the best places you can see on your trip to Konakli. We’ll include both spots inside of Konakli as well from the area surrounding it.

Konakli

Konakli is a small town close to Alanya and a greatly popular seaside resort. The town itself has a feel much closer to a modern town than an ancient settlement. It’s full of stylish contemporary hotels, promenades and, of course, plenty of well-equipped beaches. We have to underline that some of the spots that we list below are a bit away from Konakli, so you may need to hire a car or use public transport to get there. Without further ado, though, here are our picks.

The centre of Konakli with its famous clock tower

This is the town centre of Konakli, with its symbolic clock tower standing in the middle. There is also a bazaar, a park, many restaurants and cafes here. Additionally, there’s a mosque nearby, though we’ll get to that in a moment. It’s a great spot to visit in the evening, as the whole place is beautifully lit-up.

Konakli beaches

Konakli plaże

Konakli’s sandy beaches are the highlight of the town, with its beach-ridden coastline stretching out for many miles. The main part is behind the hotels on the D400 road. There are plenty of restaurants, clubs and hotel cafes. The beaches here also have some great infrastructure in place, with equipment hire, sun loungers and umbrellas. You will also find places for kids. If the water is rough at the moment, there are always the nearby hotel pools.

Geyik Mountains

Geyik Turcja

The Geyik Mountains are located about 55 miles northeast of Konakli. If you’re a fan of hiking and simply stunning views, then Geyik Mountains is a no-brainer. Sadly, you’ll need a car to get there, and about 2h 30min to spare one way.

Sealanya Water Park (with dolphins!)

sealanya

Sealanya is a very popular water park in Turkey located near Avsallar and Turkler, not far from Konakli. You can find loads of pools with whole underwater worlds, a tropical river and a coral reef. There’s also, of course, a section for children, a restaurant and a cafe. You can also swim with sharks, stingrays and dolphins here – though we can’t exactly endorse it, given that these animals are much better off in the wild.

How much does a ticket to Sealanya cost? People aged 9 and over have to pay €60, children aged 4 to 9 will cost their parents €50 and even younger children get in for free. If you want to swim with the dolphins, the cost of such an experience is €120.

Trip to Alanya

Alanya atrakcje

Alanya is very close to Konakli and you can get to Alanya whenever you wish, be it by car or by public buses – you’ll find stops just off the main road in Konakli. If you feel that you’ve spent enough time in Konakli, then you’ll find plenty to do in Alanya, with castles, cable cars and pirate ships!

Konaklı Piknik/Mangal Alanı

If you wish to have a picnic and relax by some beautiful views, we recommend this little spot, a little south of Konakli’s main beach, on a hill. This place serves as a viewpoint, a great place to relax, have a barbecue and find lots of cats!

You will find a car park behind the hill (north of the Picnic Area).

Bacoğlu Cami

Konakli Mosque

Bacoğlu Cami, otherwise known as Bacoğlu Mosque, is located in the centre of Konakli, close to the boulevard and the bazaar. You can enter the mosque but remember to dress and behave appropriately. You should be dressed modestly, take off your shoes when entering and, for women, with your hair covered. The centre is quite large, calm and quite cool (even on hot days 🙂 ).

See how to behave appropriately in a mosque here.

Hamaxia – Sinek Kalesi

Hamaxia/Sinek Kalesi is a castle located in the hills near Konakli and Alanya. It’s an old castle in a state of relative disarray with remains of old temples and other buildings. It once was a sizable fortification with great beautiful walls, though now lies here, dilapidated. You can get there via an overgrown and neglected path, but the views are rewarding. You’ll have a view of the entire coastline and the surrounding towns from here.

Though it is quite a bit of a hike, so do be warned.

Trip to Antalya

Antalya atrakcje
Antalya

Antalya’s a large city near Konakli. This is quite likely where you landed when going to Konakli. Antalya’s one of the largest cities of Turkey and full of various attractions. Popular sites in Antalya include: the Hadrian’s Gate, the old centre, the broken mosque and the old marina. You can get back to Antalya by bus or car from Konakli, and it’s a great option for when you feel like you’ve seen enough of Konakli.
