When to fly to Barcelona?
If you are looking for low prices and good weather, we recommend Barcelona in April or May. Spring is already very warm in Spain and the low season will keep the prices much lower in comparison to the summer madness. You can probably find an offer for £250ish per person for 7 days (by plane) at a travel agency in March. Self-booked accommodation will also be cheaper by a few dozen percent than in the high season.
Remember, however, that the low season also means that some services may still be closed or their schedule may be different.

Spring in Barcelona is also a great time to pull your socks up, get your backpack ready and go on a hike through Catalonia.
It’s actually what we would consider the perfect time for hikes, as you avoid the worst heats while still having the beautiful greenery budding all around you. We recommend the end of spring especially so that the temperatures can get properly high but not unbearable. Nothing quite like a trip to the nearby Parc Natural de la Serra de Collserola or Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt and l’Obac in April or May.

Even though it’s no summer, you can still expect plenty to be going on in Barcelona in March, April and May – the city doesn’t just lie dormant for the whole year beyond summer after all. For instance, you can look forward to Sant Medir, Easter celebrations, the Beer Festival, Museum Night, Sonar Music, The Day of Books and Roses or the Design Week.

For the whole of Spain, not just Barcelona, spring is a very pleasant time of year when it comes to the weather. You certainly don’t need to worry about it being too cold, even during winter. What is the weather like in March in Barcelona? You can rest easy, as the temperatures will reach up to 19 degrees Celsius. At night it will be around 10 degrees above zero, so still take a jacket or two with you. You may want an umbrella as well, though it doesn’t rain much in March either.

In April, the Barcelonian weather is already getting a bit better than in March, reaching 20 degrees Celsius, though the most significant increase is in the day to day averages. It will rain even less, so you can be just fine without an umbrella.
At night it will still be around 11 degrees Celsius.

What is the weather like in May in Barcelona? Temperatures are already looking a lot closer to their summer standards, as they can already reach 25 degrees Celsius. You can expect around 16 degrees Celsius after dark. Umbrellas are not needed this month either.
As you can see, you can safely choose Barcelona as your spring destination of choice. The pleasant temperatures, ongoing events, lower traffic and cheaper prices all mean you can have a better experience overall than in summer at times.
