Are you looking for a suitable place for spring holidays? Are you considering Cyprus but you’re not sure if it’s going to be warm enough? Don’t worry, we’ll go over what temperatures you can expect in Cyprus in March, April and May. First, though, we’ll go over a few reasons why spring in Cyprus is a great idea.
Fewer tourists in Cyprus
When are there fewer people in Cyprus?
If you value peace and quiet and you want a warm destination, Cyprus in spring has got you covered. Spring is, thankfully, much less popular than summer in Cyprus. Meanwhile, temperatures are already pleasant enough to where you can totally treat it as a semi-summer holiday.
There’s also the fact that less tourists means that prices are quite a bit lower than in summer. The most popular establishments and accommodation can be a couple dozen percent cheaper in spring. Remember, however, that fewer tourists also means less incentive for tourist businesses to stay open – some tourist facilities may be closed until the return of the high season.
Flowers in Cyprus
Everything’s in bloom
Not that the other seasons aren’t colourful, but spring in Cyprus can truly surprise you with beautiful colours, flowers and greenery – especially in Troodos. If you appreciate downright Instagram-worthy views and want to take some beautiful photos, then spring is the time for that.
Hiking in Cyprus
Through the mountains and beyond
Summer in Cyprus can often be far too hot for hiking – with temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius, it’s downright dangerous to go for a hike like that. So we recommend you travel in spring! The temperatures are lower, but obviously not too low, plus the views are just as beautiful (especially with the previous point). We recommend Akamas, Dipkarpaz and Troodos.
Swimming in April or May in Cyprus?
Is the sea warm in spring?
We’ve already covered sea water temperatures in Cyprus in the summer – what about spring? You can certainly take short dips in the water too! Sure, the waters aren’t so warm that you’d be able to take long baths, as it is a time right after winter, but waters will go above 20 degrees Celsius, so it’s still very good. If you’re going in early March, you may want to consider a hotel with heated pools though. 🙂
Spring and weather in Cyprus
Of course it’s warm!
If you want the shorthand of it, yes, spring in Cyprus is very warm. Certainly warmer than what we can find at home, even if Cyprus isn’t exactly on the other side of the world. Without further ado, though, here are the temperatures you can expect in Cyprus in March, April and May.
Weather in March in Cyprus
Temperatures in March
If you’re sick and tired of frost, then look no further. March in Cyprus will greet you with temperatures ranging from 17 to 22 degrees Celsius. On top of this, there’s virtually no rain. The only problem is the temperature at night, which still remains quite cold, at 8 degrees Celsius. So do take a jacket with you.
Weather in April in Cyprus
Temperatures in April
The first half of April will be quite similar to March, only a little warmer. The second half? To nobody’s surprise, it’s even warmer. Up to 28 degrees Celsius even. Rain will be, similarly, non-existent, and night temperatures will rise to around 13 degrees. Still jacket-worthy.
Weather in May in Cyprus
Temperatures in May
What is the weather like in May? Basically summer-like. Temperatures will vary between 24 and even 30 degrees Celsius. You should certainly pack sunscreen with you, carry plenty of water and consider taking a swim, not just sunbathing.
Cyprus is one of the warmest places in Europe and it’s a great holiday destination for virtually any time of year. We highly recommend you give it a shot, especially as it’s a lot calmer outside of the high season.
