Their intelligence and friendliness towards humans makes them a beloved animal for many, and a chance to see one in real life can be a dream come true for some. As such, in today’s post we’ll check whether there are dolphins in Mallorca. Can your dream of dolphin watching come true in Mallorca?

Are there dolphins in Mallorca?

For all dolphin lovers, we have excellent news. The Mediterranean Sea, on which Mallorca dwells, creates excellent living conditions for dolphins. So yes, dolphins do live in Mallorca, and the most common species you’ll find there are white-beaked, round-beaked and bottlenose dolphins.

If you visit the island outside the summer season you may even have a chance to see them entering the coastal waters. This is less likely during summer because of the more frequent boat and ship traffic.

Where can you see dolphins in Mallorca?

There are two main ways to watch dolphins in Mallorca. First of all, there are opportunities scattered across the whole island for cruises to the high seas, where you can spot dolphins in their natural habitat. Dolphins on Mallorca can also be seen in the Marineland water park, which is located in the small town of Calvià. Special dolphin shows are organised there and the trained little dolphins present spectacular tricks for tourists. So if you don’t manage to catch a glimpse of a dolphin in their natural habitat in Mallorca, you can take advantage of this alternative.
