What to see in Larnaca?
Larnaca is not exactly a large city, though you’ll still find quite a few interesting tourist attractions in the city as well as in its surrounding area. Larnaca’s attractions are mainly in the centre, located relatively close to each other. How many days do you need to visit the centre of Larnaca alone? In our opinion, about 1 to 2 days are enough.
What can you visit in the centre then? Larnaca Salt Lake and its flamingos, Hala Sultan Tekke, Church of St Lazarus, the Piale Pasha promenade, the Finikoudes beach and the Larnaca Castle. You can spend 1 day on these attractions plus a walk through the streets of the old town of Larnaca. If you want to also venture beyond Larnaca’s walls, things get a bit more demanding.

What to see around Larnaca?
You have a couple of interesting options to choose from here. For each, you should add another day in Larnaca.
- A trip to Ayia Napa and Nissi beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus. Here, you can drive up further to Cape Greco and do a little hiking in the Cape Greco National Park
- A trip by car or with an organised tour to Famagusta, simply a phenomenal city in northern Cyprus. Genuinely, it’s a must-see if you’re into history and ancient monuments. You can read more about Famagusta here
- Trip to Lefkara, a town in the nearby hills – famous for its beautiful views and lace
- A car trip to the Karpas peninsula, and Dizkarpaz in particular,, the easternmost point of northern Cyprus. You can find wild donkeys here, beautiful beaches and simply relax in the beautiful natural surroundings
- A trip to Nicosia from Larnaca is also one day extra. The capital itself can easily take up a whole day, especially if you drive up to the nearby Girne in northern Cyprus. the town looks like something straight out of a pirate movie
As you can see, if you want to really explore Larnaca, you’ll need quite a few days. Of course, some of these points can be combined and shortened in this way, but still, places such as Famagusta or the Karpas peninsula will take you a whole day, no way around it.
