How many days do you need in Paphos?

Paphos is a beautiful city in the south-eastern part of Cyprus. Given that it’s one of the larger cities in Cyprus, you may be wondering how many days you’re going to need to see all that it has to offer. Today’s post will go over exactly that and hopefully help you with your planning.

How many days do you need in Paphos?

Paphos is one of the largest cities in Cyprus, but it’s certainly not huge. The main tourist attractions are all located in the centre of the city, though that’s hardly all that you can see around Paphos. So how many days are you going to need in Paphos?

If you only want to see the central attractions of Paphos, i.e. the Archeological Park, The Tombs of the Kings, the promenade, castle and the centre of Paphos, you can theoretically rush through it in a day. If you want a bit more space to breathe and add a visit to one of the great beaches around the centre of Paphos, make it two days. Thankfully, everything in such a plan is accessible by foot, there’s no need for hiring a car or using public transport.

How many days do you need to explore Paphos and its surroundings?

When it comes to the general Paphos area, you should add another 2-3 days depending on where you want to actually go. You can, for instance, drive up to Lara Beach or the Blue Lagoon on the Akamas peninsula, drive to the Kourion Archeological Site or visit Aphrodite’s rock. We also highly recommend hiking to Avakas Gorge near the Lara Beach or a trip to the Agios Neophytos Monastery.

The rule of thumb is that one hike is usually a maximum of one day, with a recovery after the walk in the evening and dinner. If you’re planning hikes, you can also combine them with visits to the beach. If you’re open to such possibilities on the fly, make sure to pack some swimwear and spare clothes with you.

Trips to nearby towns in Troodos such as Lofou also add an extra day. You can also get to Limassol easily from Paphos, where you can certainly spend a whole day on Limassol’s attractions (including the flamingos there!).

If you’re planning to see the whole of eastern Cyprus with Paphos as your base of operations, we’d say a week is the right amount of time to see the highlights.
