How warm is the sea water in Side?

Side is one of Turkey’s most popular resorts and it is visited by thousands of tourists every year. For some, Side is about the sights, for others, it’s the magnificent ruins. For yet another group, it’s all about the seaside and Side’s beaches. If you belong to the last group, today’s post will examine whether the waters near Side will be warm enough for long relaxing swims.

Water temperature in Side in spring

We decided to examine all four seasons in Side to determine most accurately whether we can consider Side’s waters ‘warm’. In spring, the water temperatures in Side vary from 16 to 20 degrees Celsius.

In order to accurately answer the question of what the water temperature in Side is, let us consider this question across all seasons. The water temperature in Side in spring varies from 16 degrees in March to 20 degrees Celsius in May. There are no surprises in April, as it’s around 17 degrees Celsius.

It’s not what we would consider hot, but temperatures near May are certainly pleasant enough for a short bath.

Water temperature in Side in summer

This is likely the most pressing question, as that’s when most people would think of visiting Side. What are the waters like in summer? In June, they reach 23 degrees Celsius. In July, this rises to 25 degrees and reaches its maximum in August, when the average measurements suggest 27 degrees Celsius. That’s what we would consider perfect for long swims.

Water temperature in Side in autumn

Thankfully, some of this warmth carries over to autumn. September shows around 26 degrees Celsius and naturally gradually decreases over the following months. In October, you can expect around 23 degrees and 20 in November. If you don’t feel like having to fight for spots on the beach during high season and would prefer something a bit calmer, you can still safely choose the autumn months for a trip to Side.

Water temperature in Side in winter

Finally, let’s check the most interesting season for such questions – winter. In December, you can expect the temperatures to reach 18 degrees Celsius. January and February are naturally the coldest months, but it’s still not too bad – 16 degrees Celsius. That’s very comparable to the norms in spring – far from ideal, but not so cold that you can’t enter it at least for a moment.
