Are there coral reefs in Turkey?

The beautiful coral reefs are a sight that is sure to attract crowds of tourists and diving enthusiasts from all over the world, and understandably so. They are usually found in seas and oceans where the temperature is higher than 18 degrees Celsius and their depth reaches 50 metres. Is Turkey among these countries? Can you find coral reefs in Turkey?

Obviously, a note that we have to underline whenever speaking about coral reefs is that they are VERY sensitive to climate change. Currently, and hopefully for long, they are found in over a hundred countries around the world.

Before we start, one additional note – according to some theories, coral reefs are not allowed to appear in waters which dip below 18 degrees Celsius, which does exclude the winter season around these parts, so we’ll use a more widely-encompassing theory, so-to-speak.
