What’s the weather like in November?

Can you expect pleasant warmth in Turkey in November? It’s certainly not bad, especially in the south and south-west of Turkey. Here’s a quick overview of the November temperatures in the most popular spots:

  • Antalya, November:
    • 25 degrees Celsius at the beginning of November
    • Around 16 at the end of November
    • Around 13 degrees Celsius at night
    • Little rain
  • Mersin, November:
    • Up to 27 degrees Celsius at the beginning of November
    • It can drop to 18 degrees Celsius towards the end of the month
  • Izmir, November:
    • Here it will be a little cooler, from 23 degrees Celsius to around 13 degrees Celsius towards the end of November
  • Istanbul, November:
    • At the beginning of November it will be around 19 degrees Celsius
    • Towards the end of the month, around 11 degrees Celsius
    • It may rain more than in other places

And yes, you can certainly find places which get quite cold in November already. In Kars, north-east Turkey, the temperatures at the end of November can drop to -1 degree Celsius during the day.

Swimming in Turkey in November

Can you swim in Turkey in November? You certainly can and you certainly should while you still can! The Mediterranean is a warm sea, so you can safely take swims until even the end of November, though then it’ll just be for a quick dip. We bathed at the beginning of the second half of November and it was still delightful. The only downside is that the days get significantly shorter already, so you have to plan your trip accordingly.

Fewer tourists in Turkey in November

And we mean significantly fewer. Even the beginning of November already sees the massive decline, reaching even 2-3 times less tourists than in the high season. It may feel almost uncomfortable how empty beaches can be and how much shorter the queues are to most of the touristy spots. Time is money, after all, and speaking of money…

Turkey is cheaper in November

That’s right. And we don’t just mean shopping, but also accommodation, tours and often flights. Travel agencies often have special offers post-high-season, so be on the lookout for such bargains. With basic costs of hotels and/or flats also going down significantly, you can, at times, save up to 50% of the holiday costs this way.

As you can see, late autumn is still perfectly fine for a holiday in one of the seaside resorts in Turkey. Additionally, you’ll have less trouble with booking and actually enjoying Turkey due to a much smaller tourist traffic. If you want the ultimate crowd-free experience, though, you may also want to consider visiting Turkey in winter.
