The Mediterranean may not be overly hot yet in spring, but it’s certainly warm enough for a dip and eventually a swim. March and April may be a bit too early for the waters to get really pleasant, but May already has some hot days in Turkey. The end of May especially is a great time for both beach lounging and longer relaxing swims.

It may not be as cheap as in winter in Turkey but it is still significantly cheaper than in the high season. Spring in Turkey is the time of year that combines three undeniable pluses – fewer tourists, lower prices and already decently high temperatures. You can find your favourite accommodation from 30 to 50% cheaper than in spring. On top of that, most tourist attractions can be cheaper too, same with flights. The only downside of the low season is that some sites may still be closed around March – they usually open in mid-April.

How warm is spring in Turkey?

In the south, in Antalya, you can expect temperatures between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius. At night, it may drop below 10 degrees Celsius. In the north, in Istanbul, temperatures will range between 10 degrees at the beginning of the month to 20 at the end.
Although there should be no shortage of sunshine in Turkey in March, there is a good chance of getting caught in spring rain too – so do take an umbrella and a coat with you.

Average forecasts suggest temperatures ranging from 23 to 27 degrees Celsius (for Antalya), while the north, near Istanbul, is more likely to see around 18-24 degrees. As you can see, it’s already very pleasant in April. It rains less on the south coast.

May is one of the best months to visit Turkey. The crowds are still relatively small, certainly nothing like the high season, and the temperatures are fantastic. An average of 28 degrees Celsius during the day and 15 degrees at night. Not too cold for a night stroll, and certainly pleasantly hot during the day. You should take some sunscreen with you.
