The term “Turkish Maldives” is used here for a good reason – the lake is characterised by crystal-clear, azure waters and there is a picturesque beach surrounding the body of water. The lake has a surface area of as much as 43.7 kilometres and its maximum depth reaches 196 metres (it is thus the deepest freshwater body of water in Turkey). It’s also worth noting that Lake Salda is less than 65 miles away from Pamukkale, another charming spot in Turkey. What’s more, the Turkish Maldives is on the route between Pamukkale and the regions’ most important tourist destinations, like Antalya and Alanya. As such, tours to Pamukkale organised from these cities often include Lake Salda!
