Which part of Spain is warmest in May?

Though not quite yet the holiday summertime one may think of, May is a common time for people to try to squeeze out a weekend abroad before the tourist season properly begins. For those looking for an especially warm stay, Iberian Peninsula is particularly often chosen for a destination. If you’re one of those people, then today’s article will focus on which part of Spain is warmest in May. If you’re not in the mood, then at least you’ll know which places to avoid.

Which part of Spain is warmest in May?

We can, in good conscience, highlight three particularly warm parts of Spain right off the bat. Firstly, we have Andalusia, located in the mainland of Spain and scoring similarly high temperatures in June as well. Secondly and thirdly, we have the Spanish archipelagos – the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

All three of these places have a very similar climate. The highest average temperature in May in Spain, ergo in those three places, fluctuates between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius during the day, while it is not uncommon, especially as of recent years, for thermometers to reach beyond the 30 degree mark.

Well, okay, what about nightlife? The perceivably warmest place for nightly endeavours in Spain in May is the Canaries, where we can see 19 degrees Celsius. It dips slightly in Andalusia and the Balearic Islands, roughly 15 degrees Celsius in each of the spots.

Where will you find the warmest waters in May?

Finally, for water temperatures, the Canaries reign victorious once more, where the average for May fluctuates between 20-22 degrees Celsius. Andalusian and Balearican waters instead average at around 18-20 degrees.
