What currency does Sicily use?

If you’re planning a trip to Sicily, you may be wondering about the money situation. What currency does Sicily use? Do you have to take money with you or is a credit card enough? We’ll go over that today.

Sicily uses the same currency as the rest of Italy, meaning euros. Generally, we’d advise you to stock up on some money before departure, as exchange rates in Sicily will generally be much less favourable.

Do you need to take cash with you, though? Most major tourist spots, including accommodation, restaurants and shops, do tend to accept card payments, so you could get by without it. Still, cash is often preferred, and in some places (especially more rural), it may be the only option. Given the local exchange rates, we’d recommend taking at least some cash. You can also find ATMs in most of the popular spots if need be.

Not yet set on where exactly you’d like to go in Sicily? Perhaps we can help!
