What temperatures should we expect in Seville and is Andalusia truly as hot as some say? What can we expect once there and how to prepare for the visit in the most beautiful city in all of Spain? Is it really that hot in Seville? When should you go there?
When is it best to go to Seville?
Let’s start off, by saying that visiting Seville (you can read about the best Seville attractions here) in summer is not the brightest of ideas, as it’s one of the hottest cities in Europe. The average temperature stays at around 35, even at night. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see the temperatures go above 40 degrees and stay there for a while. For many tourists, especially from milder, colder countries, such conditions can prevent them from doing basically anything in Seville apart from staying inside all day. What’s more, the locals themselves tend to flee from the city in August, and these who stay prefer to only go out at night. Spring or autumn however, is a much better idea.
Thousands of tourist decide to visit Seville during the Holy Week (Semana Santa, 5-11th of April), as everyday during that week, there are celebratory processions. Each one looks entirely different and starts off from a different parish. Another spring festivity is the Feria de Abril, and takes place a week or two after Easter. In comparison to Semana Santa, the festivals are much more colourful and include one very special event – a bull fight, in the local arena. The solar insolation in Seville reaches around 3000 hours every year. Snow is basically non-existent, the last time any snowflake hit the ground was in 2010, and 1954 before that.
Seville can also be freely chosen during winter, as the temperatures don’t fall too much and the days are still long and bright.
