Let’s start with train fans – here’s how to get from Bergamo to Venice by train:

There is a regular train service between these two major cities, unfortunately it is with a change at Brescia, which is the interchange station for trains in the region. The main station in Bergamo is, of course, Bergamo Centrale in Citta Bassa – in Venice it is Venezia Santa Lucia.
To get from Bergamo to Venice by train you have to change trains in Brescia, where the waiting time is usually about 20 minutes for the next train. The journey including the change takes between 2 h 59 min and about 3 h 30 min depending on the option chosen. You will get to Brescia from Bergamo on a regular Trenord train for €5. At Brescia you will most likely have to transfer to Frecciarossa or another Trenord train. Prices for the Brescia to Venecia S.Lucia Trenord are around €15 per ticket, the Frecciarossa from Brescia to Venice is around €30 – €40 per ticket.

Bergamo Venice by bus
There are also buses between Bergamo and Venice. A bus to Venice leaves from Bergamo Central Station (the bus section) – it takes just under 2 h 55 min. The catch is that it arrives at Venice Mestre, which is the mainland part of Venice, from there you still have to take the train to Venezia S.Lucia
A ticket for such a bus is only EUR 10 – 15. You can buy it on flixbus.com, for example. Buses also leave from Orio al Serio airport in Bergamo. There are, however, not very many of them per day.
Bergamo Venice by car
If you have your own car or have rented one in Italy, you can simply drive up to Venice by car. The journey will take about 2h 11 min, including driving on the toll sections of the A4 motorway leading from the west to the east of Italy. The price is €16.30 per car – remember that in Italy there are toll gates on the motorways and you pay when you leave the motorway, either by card or cash.
So what to choose? Train, bus or perhaps a car? A car will be the fastest – but if you want to take the public transport option, both have their pros and cons. The bus also leaves directly from the airport, but only gets you to Mestre, from where you have to take another train.
The train from Bergamo to Venice is a nice option for people already in the centre. For the route from Bergamo to Venice we would probably choose the bus, in the other direction it will be easier to travel by train. If you want to get to Bergamo airport, it would probably be better to take the bus.
