Uber is an incredibly convenient form of travel. If you’ve got used to using Uber at home, you may be wondering whether you’ll also be able to use it during your stay in Prague. Today, we’ll go over the Uber situation in the Czech Republic. Let’s take a look!
Uber in Prague
Though Uber does not work in many cities in the Czech Republic, it does work in Prague. Currently, Uber operates only in Prague and Brno, with options being a tad limited in the latter in regards to forms of transport – a matter of Czech regulations over transport laws. Still, for Prague, you can, indeed, rely on Uber for your travels.
What options do you have there? Thankfully, it’s not as bad as Uber in Italy – you can find UberX (and a newer Saver option, up to 3 people), Uber Pet (yes, for your pets), Comfort, Uber XL (up to 6) and Uber Black.
Costs of Uber in Prague
Uber is very cheap in Prague, with UberX being about three times cheaper than your typical airport taxi. For one relevant example, an Uber from the airport to the centre will cost you around £15. You can find the price estimates for Prague here.
Do keep in mind, however, that you may also encounter modifiers, like the rush hours. Mornings during work days are typically the worst for this, though Friday evenings can also end up a rush hour. During those hours, due to demand being very high, you may need to pay a fare with an added modifier of 1.5x – 2x (meaning 150% or 200% of the regular price). Of course, you’ll be notified when rush hours are happening so you can avoid the price spikes.
