Which river flows through Turin in Italy?

Though you may have heard of Turin and its attractions, you may not be too familiar with the basics. Don’t worry, not many people have, even among those who are going to Turin. And if you’re just here for your crossword answer, that’s great too. Glad you’re keeping your brain sharp. Today we’re going to look at what river flows through Turin!

Turin is a decently sized city and, like most decently sized cities, it has been able to reach this size thanks to the river that it’s built on. Which river? Mainly the Po River, though you also have its tributaries: the Dora Riparia, the Stura di Lanzo and the Sangone. Po is the longest river in Italy, at a whopping 405 miles of length and 74,000 km2 of basin size. It’s got one of the biggest discharges among the Mediterranean rivers. It’s also a regular flooder, hence why over half of its length is surrounded by floodbanks.

Po also flows through other cities in Italy: Piacenza, Cremona and Ferrara. It flows from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea.
