Is there an airport in Venice?

Venice is one of the most beautiful and popular cities in the world. Given its waterlocked location, you may logically want to consider flying to Venice. Well, can you?

Though Venice is a city located on more than a hundred islands, it managed to squeeze in its own airport too. Though, of course, the Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is not directly in the centre, but rather about 5 miles north of Venice itself.

If you’re from a smaller country, you may not be familiar with the airport in Venice, as not every country has direct flights to this particular airport. There’s an alternative in the Treviso Airport, a lot further away from Venice. You can fly directly to VCE from the UK airports, though. You can also always combine Venice with another spot in Italy, like Catania, and fly from there.

Venice Airport is among the top airports in Italy. It’s also the base for Volotea, Ryanair, Wizz Air and easyJet. From the airport, you can either travel to Venice by bus, train or even by a water taxi! It can take you directly to the San Marco square.
