How to get from the Milan Malpensa Airport to the city centre?

So you’ve chosen Milan. It’s happening, you’ve got your flight tickets, your bags, you’re arriving in the Milan Malpensa Airport. What then, though? How do you get to the centre? Is there a train or a shuttle bus you can take? Perhaps a taxi? Fret not, for we’ll go over all of that today.

Getting to Milan from the Milan Malpensa Airport

Milan Malpensa is located north-west of the city centre of Milan, near Novara (about 25 miles from Milan). It’s the second largest airport in Italy (in terms of passengers), so the connection to the city must be convenient.

So how is it? What options do you have?

This is, in our eyes, the best option you have for getting to Milan from the airport. Trains departing from the airport station, operated by Trenitalia and Trenord, have a direct connection with Milano Centrale and reach it in 54 minutes. These depart every 30 minutes or so.

A ticket costs as much as €13, which is a considerable amount compared to other connections on the trenord network.

You can also get to the centre by bus, with a ticket costing €10 (one-way). Bus services are provided by Terravision.eu, Caronte.eu, Malpensa Bus Express and Malpensashuttle. Buses depart from Terminal 1.

The road to the centre is about 32 miles, meaning between 45 mins to an hour depending on traffic. Leave the airport on the SP52 and SS336 via Gallarate; then, you have to reach the E62 and, this way, straight through the A8, you reach Milan.

Getting to the centre by taxi/Uber

Far from the cheapest option you have, though it is here and it sure is convenient. The price for a taxi from the airport to the centre is about €95. Uber cost pretty much the same in this case, €95-100

You can order a taxi by calling 02 7777 or phone any particular taxi operator (you can find them here).
